Handcrafted Steak Knives with Amourette Snakewood Handles by Laguiole en Aubrac – Set of 6
The richly figured grain of amourette, also known as snakewood, gives this set of six Laguiole en Aubrac steak knives its distinctive character. Polished stainless steel bolsters frame the natural handles, while each 4.25-inch blade provides the set’s practical purpose at dinner. Made in Espalion, France, the knives arrive in a wooden presentation box; variations in the wood make the set related rather than perfectly uniform.
“The interest here is in the wood itself. I would give those patterned handles a little space against a plain napkin, so the natural grain remains part of the table.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Wash gently by hand with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge, then dry the blade and handle promptly with a soft cloth. Store with the edges protected; where a presentation box is included, return the pieces once they are clean and completely dry.
MAKER / HERITAGE
From workshops in Espalion and its own forge in Montézic, Laguiole en Aubrac carries forward the cutlery traditions of France’s Aubrac region. Each knife is made by a single cutler, keeping the shaping, fitting, and finishing of the piece in skilled hands. Recognized as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, or Living Heritage Company, the maker combines local craftsmanship with a choice of natural handle materials. This modern manufacture helps sustain a regional Laguiole tradition with nineteenth-century roots.
