J81 Smoked Oak and Paper Cord Dining Armchair by FDB Møbler

In smoked-oiled oak, Jørgen Bækmark's J81 armchair reveals the contrast between a deep timber frame and the texture of its woven paper-cord seat. The arms and broad stance make it a more generous dining chair than the J80, but the open construction keeps the silhouette light. The darker finish gives the design a more intimate tone, particularly suited to rooms with books, layered textiles and mixed woods.

“I like how smoked oak can sit among many generations of furniture without demanding that every wooden surface match. The J81 would make a handsome companion to an older dining table, especially where its woven seat provides relief from the solid wood of the other pieces.”
