Handcrafted Steak Knives with Ebony Handles by Laguiole en Aubrac – Set of 6

$549.95

Dark ebony handles and polished stainless steel give these six Laguiole en Aubrac steak knives a particularly clear, elegant outline. Each knife pairs a 4.25-inch blade with the traditional shepherd’s cross detail in the handle, bringing the contrast of wood and metal into focus. Made in Espalion, France, and presented in a wooden box, the set can anchor a dinner setting without relying on elaborate ornament.

“I am drawn to ebony against a pale plate; that dark line gives the setting definition. It works just as well with a plain cloth as with a more richly patterned table.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

CARE & OWNERSHIP

Wash gently by hand with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge, then dry the blade and handle promptly with a soft cloth. Keep natural handles out of the dishwasher and avoid leaving the pieces to soak. Store with the edges protected; where a presentation box is included, return the pieces once they are clean and completely dry.

MAKER / HERITAGE

From workshops in Espalion and its own forge in Montézic, Laguiole en Aubrac carries forward the cutlery traditions of France’s Aubrac region. Each knife is made by a single cutler, keeping the shaping, fitting, and finishing of the piece in skilled hands. Recognized as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, or Living Heritage Company, the maker combines local craftsmanship with a choice of natural handle materials. This modern manufacture helps sustain a regional Laguiole tradition with nineteenth-century roots.
